Hello future nurses! My name is Caitlin and I am honored to be serving as your Media Director for the 2015-2016 school year. I joined the board of directors recently and am excited to represent the needs of student nurses in Oregon to our board of directors and professional partners.
I have come to nursing as a second career after working for years as a teacher and project manager. I received my bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Oregon in 2004 and have since worked in positions where I was able to write newsletters, coordinate various projects and departments, and work with some incredible people. I hope to use my background in writing and coordination to make the OSNA website and newsletters exciting and relevant for all of the gifted and compassionate students who want to become nurses in the future.
I am attending the three year bachelor’s degree program at OHSU Portland campus, and in my limited free time, I love to read, go out for coffee, and watch 80’s and 90’s sitcoms. I love the rain in Oregon, and I live in Portland with my two giant Maine Coon cats.
My hope for this year is to create media that is relevant, useful, and accessible to all of our members. I hope to add some fun information and activities to our newsletters and consolidate as much information as possible to avoid contributing to the onslaught of news and updates we all receive from various organizations as nursing students. I know how stressful it can be to open a full mailbox and have to prioritize each item, and my goal is to make the OSNA newsletter and communications something to look forward to, and not something to be quickly moved into the “round file.”
I am open to any and all suggestions about how to improve OSNA’s media and communications, and I love hearing from students about your individual journeys. I am here to serve YOU, so feel free to email me at [email protected] with any suggestions, comments, requests, ideas, or just to say hello! I look forward to working for you all.
