Convention Planning Committee

Are you organized? Do you like planning parties? Then we want you on the Convention Planning Committee!
Members need to be available via e-mail, and for occasional virtual meetings.
Email [email protected]

Volunteer

OSNA is a pre-professional organization run by nursing students. We are always appreciative of volunteers, and this is also a good way to get involved with the OSNA (dip your feet in the water) and see what kind of resources we can provide you with.

The OSNA has committees on which you can volunteer, a yearly convention that needs volunteers, and various events around the state that you can attend. Please contact our Board of Directors for more information,

To apply for a committee, please review the descriptions and fill out the application below and email to the respective committee director.

Review the Committee Descriptions Below

Convention Committee:
  • I need volunteers across the board, ranging from helping the speakers, raising money, to as simple as coming to the convention to set or clean up. Let me know what you are interested in and what your specific skill set is so we can match you up to the perfect job! I would love to have members who are creative, hard working, dependable, committed, fun, available and of course crafty! If you feel like volunteering is not something you are interested in doing but have ideas as to what you would like at the convention please pass that information on as well. My goal is to make this convention meet the needs of the most people as possible but to do that I need your help and your ideas!

Community Outreach Committee:
I am looking for four members to be in the community outreach committee. I need motivated, responsible, team player and networking people. Their duties include:
  • Assisting me in finding volunteer opportunities for nursing students to get involved within their communities.
  • Find community events related to health and nursing across Oregon where nursing students can participate
  • Find community resources in Oregon for nursing students
  • Network with community leaders and obtain contact information

Membership Coordination Committee:
  • I want people from all areas of the state.
  • I would link people that would be willing to help with community events.
  • I would like people that are willing to visit schools in their area.
  • I would like members of the committee to be available by e-mail.
  • It would be preferable that members of this committee are outgoing and knowledgeable about the OSNA.

Nominations and Elections Committee
  • I am looking for nursing students who are interested in getting others involved to serve on the Nominations and Elections Committee (NEC).  As a member of the NEC, you will have a number of roles:
  • Spread information regarding offices
  • Encourage participation among various chapters
  • Recruit qualified candidates
  • Prepare the slate of qualified candidates for elections

Fundraising Committee
  • OSNA is looking for volunteers to head up a fundraising committee to benefit the state wide funds. Funds generated help to keep the cost of member ship dues low statewide. They also help to facilitate convention activities and keep convention attendance fees low.  OSNA is looking for a diverse group of dynamic leaders with experience (or interest in gaining experience) in fundraising activities. The benefit of leading or serving on this committee is the boost to your resume and the statewide network connections you will make.  Consider sharing your talents with OSNA!

Media Committee
  • I am looking for members who will help to search for relevant articles regarding nursing education, scholarships, honor societies, residencies and more.
  • Our committee meets online once a month to review the web site, submit and proof articles for publication in our newsletter and website.

Breakthrough to Nursing Committee
  • Locating opportunities and/or volunteering to visit local high schools, skill centers, technical schools, vocational centers,  community colleges and universities to speak with potential nursing students about the wide variety of opportunities in nursing.
  • Networking with other area schools and/or Student Nurses Association to share projects and ideas that related to Breakthrough.
  • Mentoring a Prenursing student

Professional Development Committee
  • The goal of this committee is to provide OSNA members and other nursing students throughout Oregon with information about various professional development opportunities across the state, including volunteer opportunities, NCLEX prep courses, certifications, and more.
  • Members need to be committed to researching professional development opportunities in their area and communicating this information with the committee chair on a monthly basis.
  • Members need to be motivated and able to work independently within their area of the state, as well as be a team player as we collaborate to develop a comprehensive list of resources for our audience.
  • Members need to be available via e-mail, and for occasional virtual meetings.
  • This committee is looking for volunteers from all areas of the state.
