The OSNA is here to serve you . . .
To help student nurses prepare for professional careers the OSNA will:
- Provide educational break-out sessions relevant to a variety of practice settings.
- Collaborate with other organizations to foster preparation for work on interdisciplinary health care teams.
- Expand relationships with nursing student associations and the Oregon Nurses’ Association to promote public awareness of healthcare issues.
- Develop mentorship programs to be used throughout the state to foster the multi-directional transfer of knowledge within the scope of nursing practice.
- Use the OSNA’s website as a vehicle for education and promotion of professional development by soliciting contributions from statewide chapters and individuals.
To promote the positive image of student nurses, the OSNA will:
- Expand relationships with liaisons with other organizations and associations in order to promote the image of nursing, increase recruitment and promote the nursing profession.
- Outreach to pre-nursing students.
- Outreach to highschool students.
- Outreach to youth organizations.
To increase the value of the OSNA for all students in Oregon, the OSNA will:
- Encourage all nursing programs to offer academic credit to students for participation in the OSNA conventions, enlisting support from faculty, deans, and directors of programs throughout the state.
- Expand upon liaisons with other organizations as determined by the OSNA board.
- Encourage all student leaders to participate in state and national conventions.
- By increasing the awareness of benefits of OSNA membership through outreach to nursing and pre-nursing students.
