Committee Descriptions
Break Through to Nursing:
For those interested in working in a committee, in support of my position (Breakthrough to Nursing) and helping me complete the goals that I have set for my time in this position, I will need help with a couple of things. Most primarily, travel, because I'm not from around Oregon so the times when I'm not in school, I'm in northern Washington, and also I have my commitment to school. I will need help with people traveling to schools for activities that I plan with high schools or schools with pre-nursing/nursing programs. The activities that I'm in the process of planning are blood drives and possibly a hygiene drive. These people can go and talk with other students and encourage them to be informed in Nursing and pursue opportunities to improve not only their resumes, but their overall experience and positive perspectives of the Nursing profession.
Convention:
I need volunteers across the board, ranging from helping the speakers, raising money, to as simple as coming to the convention to set or clean up. Let me know what you are interested in and what your specific skill set is so we can match you up to the perfect job! I would love to have members who are creative, hard working, dependable, committed, fun, available and of course crafty! If you feel like volunteering is not something you are interested in doing but have ideas as to what you would like at the convention please pass that information on as well. My goal is to make this convention meet the needs of the most people as possible but to do that I need your help and your ideas!
Community Outreach Committee:
I am looking for four members to be in the community outreach committee. I need motivated, responsible, team player and networking people. Their duties include:
Legislative Education Committee:
Group Goals
1. I want people from all areas of the state.
2. I would link people that would be willing to help with community events.
3. I would like people that are willing to visit schools in their area.
4. I would like members of the committee to be available by e-mail.
5. It would be preferable that members of this committee are outgoing and knowledgeable about the OSNA.
Nominations and Elections Committee:
-I am looking for nursing students who are interested in getting others involved to serve on the Nominations and Elections Committee (NEC). As a member of the NEC, you will have a number of roles:
1. Spread information regarding offices
2. Encourage participation among various chapters
3.Recruit qualified candidates
4.Prepare the slate of qualified candidates for elections
-I will need at least four individuals to assist in these activities. One of my goals for this year is to increase the involvement of individuals from school chapters not currently represented in OSNA. In order to do this, I would like individuals with a variety of connections to different school chapters and geographical locations.
-Since the NEC reviews candidates and credentials, persons who wish run for office the following year should not apply to be on this committee.
Media Committee:Potential committee members must have the ability to work well with others. It is very important that you are able to follow through on your commitments. This committee will be heavily technology based.Critical qualifications:1. Familiarity with or willingness to learn the popular software related to social media and website editing.
Fundraising Committee:OSNA is looking for volunteers to head up a fundraising committee to benefit the state wide funds. Funds generated help to keep the cost of member ship dues low statewide. They also help to facilitate convention activities and keep convention attendance fees low. OSNA is looking for a diverse group of dynamic leaders with experience (or interest in gaining experience) in fundraising activities. The benefit of leading or serving on this committee is the boost to your resume and the statewide network connections you will make. Consider sharing your talents with OSNA!
